Playing with my toy.

With the wet spring this field really struggled. Nearly drowned the wheat. So I tiling it. I'm really amazed at how much the ground had dried over just the last week. It went from moist to dry and hard. By the fence I had to give up it was digging so hard, it was mostly blue clay over there.

I have a tractor powered Vermeer PT12 that's bigger and goes deeper. But it's about worn out and parts are expensive IF they can be bought. It's old. Uses a '49 dodge truck rearend for a gearbox.

I got this of a pro drainage guy that went out of business. He used it for small stuff like yards so it was all setup with the tile boot. He had a laser control on it, but it's dead so went old school with the sight rod.

Okay that makes sense. I was looking at renting a trencher like this but it wouldn't have the tile boot. I was looking at building the boot to put on when I had the machine rented but couldn't figure out how to mount it and keep it at the bottom of the trench at all depths. AND it would cost 1-2K per week. I got this all setup for 3K.

If I was doing your job and didn't have a backhoe I'd look at renting a trencher. Some Home Depots rent smaller ones. Probably others out there too.

I have an old John Deere panbreaker that would go deep enough for what I want I think . Just need to design the cable boot I guess
