Removing Loader and leaving front pto Hydraulic pump in plac

Every time We remove the loader, we take the front hydraulic pump off also. I was wondering if I can leave pump on and connect back to reservoir which is attached to the tractor and not the loader. This would also by pass my spool valves because the are attached to the loader so it would just circulate from reservoir to the pump and back. This Loader is an old Superior type loader but has been set up with a separate reservoir and is mounted on a Case 300 Round Nose, so to take the hood off the loader must be removed. Thanks in advance for any replies.

How much longer does it take to remove pump. Just curious how often is every time more than 1 or 2 times a year? and why.

Sean thanks for the reply. Well the point really isn't time it's the effort. I'm not supposed to be lifting more than twenty pounds and my son who has been a great help over the years has issues with his back now so I can't count him to do it now. So we are trying to figure a little easier way to get our fall maintenance done. Why the loader has to come off is because it's a Case 300 round nose and to remove the sheet metal you have to remove the loader.

there shouldn't be a problem with the front pump staying on and circulating oil to a reservoir and back. Open center system just like pump circulates oil when no valves are engaged.

Thank you Hayfarmer for your reply. I thought it would be okay but I am no hydraulics expert and before I did anything wanted to check on YT for opinions and answers. Thanks again

Yeah lol Mike, I think that's what my son suggested, one of many times I had him help take it off.

I don't see what you hope to gain, unless you butcher the hood. The nose of the hood has holes in it that slide over bosses protruding from the bolster casting. These bosses hold the pump in place, so the pump mounting bolts have to be removed to pull the hood anyway. You might consider putting hydraulic quick couplers of sufficient size on the pump so you can more easily remove and reinstall or reroute the plumbing for use without the loader, valve, and pump.

If you don't have a problem butchering the hood a bit, just cut the bottom of the hood holes out so it slips up off the bosses on the bolster casting. The hood is already made as a RH and LH sides so the pump shaft is no problem.------------Loren

Thanks, Loren for your reply. I totally forgot that the hood slips off over the bosses. Just when I thought I had all figured out another problem arises. But this hood is far from perfect so cutting the metal under the bosses is not an issue for me. We have already cut away the alignment holes on this hood to make the loader easier to reinstall and i have a 2nd set of sheet metal it tact less the grill and lid. Love your pics and custom projects you post.
