Square baling with a JD

Did 2 loads today for the neighbor and every thing worked
fairly well. Only pulled the hay wagon with my old 77 up to my
barn and back to the field. I haven?t square baled since 1995
and was kinda fun instead of work.

SV, The AC wasn?t working so it was warm in the cab. No biggy for me cause I know winter is just around the corner. At work it was 107 in the cab of the IH dump truck so you get used to the warmth. lol

Grandpa Love, I could of used a little help this morning my family had other things to do. I would throw 6 or 7 bales up in the barn then climb up and stack them. I baked next to my house but the hay I put in my barn case from next to his house. Going to help him repair a tire tomorrow on his 2510. Last year at this time he was recuperating from quadruple bypass surgery.

Greg that smaller green tractor is a better tractor. Grew up on a 77. Wish I had it. Not a fan of the soundgard cab either. Hate to admit those old deeres ain t bad tractors. RB

RB, Thought I was going to use the 77 to Ted or rake but he got it done without me. Maybe next year! My uncle lives in the tri cities area haven?t ever been out to Washington yet.

Greg come on out. I m 5.5 hrs northwest of the tri cities. Be glad to meet another y/t feller.

I think Pasco? I think he?s 92 now and still active. Have cousins out there I have never met. Time just seems to fly on by.

That's a &^$# good baler, which would be a big help in making it "fun" instead of misery, IMHO.

you are lucky to get your hay today- we got 7/10" Friday night and another 3/10 Sat afternoon. no dry hay here today; 2 neighbors had stuff they had planned to bale today.

Sure wish I had your wide pickup. I baled over 1000 of straw today with the 4230 and a 24t. Slow going but I did not mind to much setting in the cab with the ac running.LOL Did have to go back and gather up skips where the windrows were wider than my pickup. Tom

Here s how I baled today. Glad I only had to make 250 bales. That came off a 3 acre field. The remaining 19+/- acres made 125 big squares.

Yes I haven?t had ac or heat or even a cab on a tractor for a very very long time you get used to it

I had a 12t and then upgraded to a 24t in the '80's and 90's. Both good, reliable machines even for their age. I had to quit squares as minimum wage and telephone toys eliminated the high school hired hands to do the picking and stacking.

Texasmark,

You need one of those new-fangled helpers that attaches to the back of the baler and throws them on the wagon for you! Of course, then you d have to put cages on the racks to catch the bales...

If the baler bales and ties, it is a lot of fun!!!
If it doesn't tie, Oh, dear!!
I have an old NH 1280 self-propelled twine tie baler.
I love to leave the knotter cover open so I can watch it tie!
Can't see much, but it's fun to "watch"
