I have a 1945 GM and i always wonder why right cylinder never fires at idle or its just intermittent i have read up that they are like this and that under load they come to life on the right side.
has anyone managed to even them out via manifold change or ignition timing etc thanks

Check valves?bent pushrod?tappet parts worn?
Take air pipe off in front of carburator, start
it,put hand over intake a few inches away then
start moving hand to carb air intake, see if you
feel air being drawn in for each cylinder,or have
somebody crank it over while you hold hand on it
solid,if your afraid of dust entering engine take
plug wires off n try. Sometimes a valve not
seating right will seat when a load comes on the
governor.

That is the way they are designed. Nothing wrong with it. To smooth out the idle that is why JD went with the 2 barrel carb. and intake on the models 50,60,70.

Same reason why a carbureted Harley spitters on #2 cylinder .
Just out of curiosity, what is the coolant temperature?
