Is it a knock or normal Diesel engine sound

I have asked John Deere 850 end it seems like it s making a knocking sound to me. It has a Yanmar 3T80j and I ve heard that Yanmar motors can be loud. I haven t been around enough diesel tractors do you know if this is normal for this engine.
Tractor supposedly only has 600 hours on.

Take a quick listen and let me know what you think.

Diesels by design do knock, ping, rattle and detonate. The matter is of how much they knock, ping, rattle and detonate .

You could pull the valve cover, and check the valve lash (kind of sounds like a loose rocker arm), but it could be just how the engine sounds normally.

Hard to tell on the video ? Recordings pick up a lot of extra noises too. At 500 IIRC the yanmar is to have the valves adjusted and the injectors tested. For sure do those.

Sounds allot like my Ford 3000, had a diesel mechanic buddy visiting from out of state, asked him what he thought because I could swear it sounded just like a rod knock. His reply was how long has it sounded like that. I said as long as I have had it 12 years. He just giggled and walked away.

I have a Yanmar YM 330 same tractor/engine as a JD 950 about like your 850.Yours sounds normal and like mine except for a little tapping noise probably nothing but as said
I'd check the valves.
