Drone View Today

Took a few drone pics over the Bison pasture today. I didn't want to get too close and scare them so this shot was nearly a quarter
mile away. Grass is nice and green for them.

Turned the camera looking the opposite direction.

I just noticed that slough water is almost the same colour as the canola field on the right.

Yes, the yellow is blooming canola. The early stuff is blooming great but there will be a lot of late germinating canola still blooming a month from now probably.

Beautiful. Always like seeing pictures of the Bison. Probably good idea not to upset them. If they ever get out , hopefully they remember what a good neighbor you are. Maybe you?ll get Bison burgers at Christmas.

They actually seem pretty quiet and not easily scared. They are use to the highway traffic going by all the time. Still I won't get too close with the drone.

Nice photos as usual. Highway 35 (?) shows up nicely. And I see the Merc in the shade! Does Canola get measured in bushels per acre as other grains do? If so, what is considered a nice yield? When I was a young fella (1950s) helping Dad and others on ND farms, durum wheat and hard red spring wheat were considered good if they yielded 60 bu/ac.

Ron, best I ever grew was last year's wheat at just over 50 and canola just over 40. The better farmers that don't skimp on the inputs are talking 60 bushel wheat but I don't expect it on my farm.
