Flagship classic tractors from 1960's in a group at Historic Farm Days display. One in this display that did not get in this picture is the Deere 5010. Some of these were the first to approach or surpass 100 hp tractors, considered quite large for this era. Hats off to the Penfield boys for an outstanding display and Show featuring IH tractors, & some muscle tractors thrown in for good measure.

There were a couple horses in that race. Granted JD?s 5010 in ?63 at 134 hp put them over the century mark for drawbar. AC had the D-21 in ?63 at 114 hp, and MM had the G-705 in ?62 at 112 hp both which toyed around in the 90-95 drawbar pull. Then I?ll open that can and say that Cockshutt had the 580 in development as of White?s buyout in ?62 which is rumored to be in that same ho range. And lastly the old Hart-Parr 60-100 from the days of William Howard Taft at 100 belt and 60 draw bar.

There used to be a 5010 a few miles south of here that set in a pasture full of Holsteins for 15 or more years before it disappeared. Always wondered what could be wrong with it to let it lay that long, didn't look that bad from the road.

The 5010 was in 1962 . Either way all neat big tractors . I ran a 5020 pulling a 5 shank big ox ripper up these same hills with no front weight and the front end would rarely come off the ground but load holy cow then old cabs are noisy!
