going to build a slant bar feeder?

what is the width between the slants? I have Angus and Hereford cattle,I've seen anywhere from 12 to 16" what do you guys recommend thanks for any help

Don?t get em to wide they waste to Much feed cause the pull it out and drop it and then pull another wad out and drop it

With our sheep the slats are 3? apart. I?d say for cattle at least 6?

I think they are wise they want the best hay in the middle of the bale

Built mine at 14 inches wide, with a 30 degree slant. Market weight steers would fit in. Calf feeder was smaller-maybe 10 inches- depends on head size.
