Hi, I have an old 3 pt woods 5' mower. I need a. Seal for the blade end of the shaft. Anybody know the number? Or how to find a parts book on line? I would like to get the seal nbr and buy it locally. Ed Will oliver bc

I rebuilt an unknown brand Finnish mower last summer and just took the seal and bearings to O'Reilly's and they crossed them over with no problem I also took the spindle shaft with me so they knew what the diameter of the shaft was

I checked the spindle seal for a Woods RM-59 mower, and it shows a Woods part number 5089. That cross references to a National 471762 seal.

Who needs a number? When I need a seal, I go to town to Bearings Inc. with the shaft and hub. They will measure it, 20 minutes later I have it installed. Sometimes there are numbers on the seal that only makes sense to the boys at Bearings inc.

What I did with my mower deck was go to woodsequipment.com, click on "Support", then "Request A Manual". I filled out the information, and they sent me an email with a PDF version of the manual as an attachment.

Ed, you don't need a seal. You need corn head grease. Try searching for threads about changing the seal. Read a few. They should help you to change your mind.

I go to locateballbearings.com for all my bearings and seals. Once you have a number go to the website and enter it in the search box. Each time I tried the online ordering it didn't work so I just call the order in. They've been good to work with.

John Deere sells Corn head grease. BBFD also sells thin grease.
You should use one or the other. They should not be mixed.
