Getting too many scam calls

These people don't have a clue. They told me I am going to be getting more solar discount other than the 30% I already received. When I told the scammer my solar panels were under my house, the scammer said that's ok. All they wanted was to get into my computer. They can sound so real. My neighbor lost 6 K recently. A friend from church lost an amount of money he didn't want to reveal. These were fairly smart people. My wife got an e mail from the bank. It was a scam. She gave them every thing but the kitchen sink. This was 6 or so years ago. Just be careful. Stan

Anything that important they can send me a letter or a registered letter in the mail . I do not Answer most calls If it?s important they can leave a voicemail and if it?s really that important they should send me a text

Quickest and easiest way to make a dent in the scam calls is to STOP ANSWERING THE PHONE. Legitimate callers will leave a message, scammers won't. Not only that, most of their autodialers will take your number off their list.

I notice it very immediately. When I answer a scam call by mistake, I get a whole bunch more within 24 hours. As long as I don't answer them the calls stop almost immediately and I'm back down to one a week.

I am probably going to jinx myself, but I have gotten only 1 spam call in about 3 weeks, and my phone blocked that call. I can't begin to guess how many numbers I have blocked on my phone. If a name doesn't come up, or they don't leave a message, the number gets blocked. Period!

There is a lot of opportunity for scamers since most people today are so stupid you wonder how they can figure out how to breathe.

Scammers DO sometimes leave a message. One time they said that if I didn?t call them back they wished me good luck when the police arrived to haul
me off to jail.
I don?t answer the phone if I don?t know the number, but it doesn?t cut back the number of call I get, usually several a day.

Chief, you are talking to people that you should not be talking to. It has been on the news a lot too. Do you listen to the news?

Stephen ..... "most people today are so stupid". So are you in the majority or minority? A rather blunt statement which of course is not really true. Most people are not stupid, but thinking that can make a guy sound stupid.

Hey barnyard, How do you NOT answer a call from the local Hospital? These crooks can and do alter the caller ID. I just wonder how they know when it is the worst time to call? Mostly when you have a grease gun in the hand. I like to mess with them. joe

The message on my answering machine says that I don't answer the phone Because of jerkoffs who call and shouldn't because I'm on the no call list and if they are one of those jerkoffs, hang up and don't call back. If not and their message is worthwhile leave a message after the tone. My phone shows that I get 7 to 10 calls daily. Once in a while for the fun of it I answer. I have one of those small aerosol boat horns in the house and I give them a blast. If I'm in the shop, I put the phone near a steel bench and start hammering the bench.

Lately I've been asking if they can get me credit card since I don't have one for them to save me interest. But it is about time to start practicing my language to try and make sailors and plumbers blush. A while back I had one of their people yelling back at me and I hope there was a bunch of people in the call center when he did. I just laughed while I was hanging up.

I agree, don't talk to those people!

Hang up, don't say a word.

They can record the conversation, edit the recording, and have you agreeing to buy something.

Then proceed to claim they have a binding contract, you must pay or we'll take you to court...

It can get real ugly, plus any conversation puts you on the "potential" list. You're then targeted with more and more calls!

Ken and Leroy, I doubt very much that horns or hammers or bad language is really bothering the computer dialers.

Here you go, here is a sample. https://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=ttalk&th=2072851 You don't have to drive very far to find idiots on the highways. Then any product you buy is designed by idiots especially if it's automotive or electronic. Then there is issues not allowed to discuss on the forum. I think I made a fair statement.

"How do you NOT answer a call from the local Hospital?"

HUH?

Why would you expect the "local hospital" to be calling you???

If you have a smartphone, look closely, open up like your going to save that number .usually there iss a block number icon.ive blocked 55 so far.the last 1 is phony when you view it,789 654 3210.they tried calling 3 times yesterday,it pops up on my screen saying you blocked this number

Bottom left hand line.
This number is valid but using for example

You can blow your horn and hammer all you like, but the phone equipment is not capable of reproducing such loud noises. Add to that, there is probable not a person at the other end of most of those calls.

In the meantime, I find your language offensive. this is a family oriented site, and crude language is not well tolerated here.
