Discbine roll wrapping???????

I have a Deere 920 MoCo and am trying to cut some first crop orchard grass and alfalfa mix hay. It is thick and lodged a good bit. I am having trouble with hay wrapping on my lower roll. The first time it was so bad that it took a hour and a half to cut it off and pry it out. It gets super tight under the roller against the cutterbar. I tried slowing down the ground speed and still had the same problem. I have heard that worn rolls can cause wrapping? I have owned the machine for 5 years and never had a problem before. I have even cut a good bit of rye that was taller than me for silage with no issues. Any ideas?? Thanks. Tom

Clean the roller real good and then wax it. Good chance it has gotten sticky form the sap and if your area is like mine it has been a wet spring so lots of sap in the plants make for things gettign sticky.

Increase travel speed. If the rolls grab tall material before the knives cut it that is when the rolls wrap. At least 5th gear in a 3020, 4th in a 560, at least 6 mph. In really tall stuff 7mph or more.

That might be it. I was mowing with the 4230 and mowed 4 rounds with no problem but did not like the rough ride so I slowed down to about 5 1/2 mph. Was mowing about 6-7mph. Both times it wrapped up I was on a hillside with the material laying down the hill side ways from me.Hooked to a neighbors New Idea 5209 and finished up with no problems. Tom

I don t have any experience with the Deere, but our 5209, faster you go nicer it mows. The nice flat field I recently mowed I was going 10-11 mph.
