I could have gotten . I found this old subsoiler on a rack pile a long long time ago drug it home never got a chance to use it but I wanted to rip my triticale field I know it has a hard pan I?m going to throw a few hundred pounds of suit case weights on it . But any way pretty impressive when you can drag a 60 year old or older piece of machinery out of the junk pile hook it up grease and go to work I think anyway.

Try the pictures again 😡😡

I don't think you're going to need any weight to make that thing go in ground. The "foot" is angled so it will suck right in. I think you're going to need the weights on the tractor to pull it.

Happy birthday to you! My father in law's birthday is today also. Was just at his party they throw every year, he is a Vietnam Veteran and a couple others that came are also, was great listening to what they had to say. He is 77 today.

You should do fine with that. I have a 3 point single shank I've used behind a Ford 8N. It will go in about 18" and the 8N handles it fine.

You have a lot more tractor on that than I was using.

Rick

Where you at? You must have different ground then we have here in SC. Mn. In our ground you need a minimum of 40 hp. per shank on a subsoiler.

Happy Birthday SV. Good lookin piece of equipment. One of these days when ma & I get across 84 we ll have to meet up. RB

Happy birthday.

I assume the rope is to trip a lift mechanism. I hope it did a good job for you.

Paul

Thanks for all the happy birthdays guys ! There is a super hard layer about 16 inches deep I can?t penetrate maybe I don?t need to go that deep ?

This particular model is sized for a 1010 or 2010 new John Deere and there is two or 3 larger ones . This one is a little different than the ones I?ve seen on YouTube in that the lever that drops it points down instead of up

Great to see that old iron in operation. Still have Dad's old Subsoiler. It looks similar. It that managed to miss being added to the iron pile. Now it just sits. Stan

These were in the catalog at least as far as 1961 . Mine is earlier than the 61 model you can see the newer one has both trip levers sticking up .

Is this politically correct??? A CASE guy wishing a JD guy a happy birthday??? Any way, the heck with political correctness. Happy Birthday SV.
I believe your fields will really benefit from using that tool, even if it is old.

Borrowed a 3 pt model and used it to plow in electric line. Fasten a piece of conduit to the shank with hose clamps and have a bend at the bottom facing rearward and a funnel on the top and feed the wire in as you go.

I had a John Deere Killefer chisel with the 2 lever system. For some reason every time I used it it would knock my back out for 3 weeks. I finally let my son take it for scrap.

I never seen smaller tractors pull them in our area, our 630 with 3 weights on both rear wheels in 2nd gear was a load . Our 630 is stout too.

Rick I was pretty happy I was running 6th gear on
the powershift about 6 mph you could tell it was
back there when it hit a tough spot though

I?m going to throw some weight on and see if I can get it in the ground the last 4 inches
