New Holland rakes

Bought this old rake for 100$ And it has turned a lot of hay even turned 36 feet of double 18 windrows and it just keeps a rolling the hay over had to replace a ujoint tonight and I had to cut off the mess of a hitch extension the guy I got it from Welded on and it needs a new star wheel but for the price and the amount of money it?s made me I don?t feel to bad putting some money into it

Here's my 256. Cost $300, put new tires and u-joints on it, paid for itself the first field it raked. I only put up 900-1,000 squares a year, so it's not like it's worked all that hard.

I spent many many days as a kid leading a New Holland side rake around with an Oliver 77. One of my favorite jobs

Interesting, can't even look at a 56 or 256 for under $600 around these parts. A nicer one would be over 1K.

Seems like I have turned a million acres over with my 56..lol. Don't use it much anymore since I got a V rake, but still keep it in the shed for an emergency. Bob

Raking is a fun job always wanted a new Holland rake growing up we had an old international rake and it wouldn?t hardly comb your hair my uncle borrowed a new Holland 56 from the neighbors to turn some meadow hay that had been rained on about 7 times and had grass growing up through it and that 56 could pull that wet hay rank hay right up off the ground when the international couldn?t hardly turn hay that was ready to bale

I bought a new one with dolly wheel in the late 70's or early 80's for $1650.
