Pettybone sitting by the road. Old fellow has been well taken care of. Got up close and saw that all the fittings have fresh grease. Used but not abused.

The Red Seal was a series of Continental motors. They made them in inline 4 and 6 cylinder models. You would see the Red Seal logo on a lot of construction equipment. Especially in the late 1950s and early 1960s.

I know 4-5 people that worked at Pettibone in Baraga, MI. In the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the Keeweenaw Peninsula.

Mine has the extra lift. And I even have a tractor in the picture. I have a 220 IH power plant.

don't think it was of the Red Seal family, but old Lincoln SA-200 had Continental F-162 4 cyl engine.

We still have a few pettibone speed swings here At BNSF railway.those things are really tough and overbuilt

Was that 6 cylinder Continental the same as the engine in the old WC22 White road tractors ? Cracked vulvae seats all the time ? That's what I remember about then.Never was a engine that ran as smooth as those old Continental's. Could stand a half dollar coin on edge while idling. .Old Scovy

Dad had a Gehl ensilage cutter with a Continental Red Seal flat head engine. Tin was a gray with Red Seal in red
