Hey guys anybody know where I can find a running engine for a 4030 close to Texas 76642 zip

4030 2840 and a 6600 combine have the 329 in them i don?t k or what else use them

It?s a 329d engine I?ve located one in Missouri but that?s a far ways for me to drive

Also will a 359 bolt in where the 329 was I don?t if it will the 359?s are easier to find ????

Should be able to find JD 2840 motors easily. They often have hydraulic or transmission issues that make repairing them cost prohibitive. I often see complete running JD 2840s with those issues sell for the $3000-4500 range.
 
329 and 359 are somewhat interchangeable. You may have to change rear engine housings and you may have issues with water pump/fan location, thermostat and water manifold set-up.
 
Can I assume the block are the same size and I don?t have to Have new holes in my frame rails is just ha e to put my bell housing plant on the 359 a 359 is easier to find then a 329 for some reason around here
 
Yes the blocks are the same on the outside, all bolt holes match up. the most difference is the water pump mounting and thermostat housing. The heads may be from the same casting but machined for a different application (combine, cotton picker, loader, farm tractor, power unit, etc) which placed the water outlet or water pump at a different position. I installed a 329 from a cotton picker in a farm tractor which had had a 359. I had to alter the thermostat housing and change the rear engine housing from the 359 to the 329. The 329 was rated at a higher hp so the smaller displacement had sufficient power for the tractor. I know of a tractor in Alabama with a 359 that could be bought pretty cheap. Frame rails on 300 series engines such as 329 & 359 CID engines don't bolt to engine blocks but bolt to flywheel housing & frt axle supports. IIRC Yes both engines should readily interchange.
