Millermatic 200 gamble

There is a Millermatic 200, an older model, arc and mig, gas capable, single phase 240, available for $300. Problem is, I may not be able to verify its operation. I think they are good units and genearlly, parts seem available, the question is, is it worth the $300 gamble?

Does the seller seem legit or do you get that feeling you may be taken? Go with your gut, if that doesn t work I think it s worth $300.

If it needs to be repaired, we charge $150.00 to open the case. I just delivered one last week back
to the customer,bill was $300.00.

Are you sure it's both stick and MIG? I don't think the Millermatic 200 has stick capability.

You say it's "gas capable". Does that mean it has the hose and regulator but no tank? Or is it only set up for flux-core wire?

Why isn't it possible to test the machine? If it was me, I would just assume it's broken unless the seller can prove otherwise. So figure you're going to be putting some money into it; just double the asking price for a rough estimate. Would you buy it if the price was $600 and you could prove it works?

If it's the older mm200 and not a newer model it doesn't have stick ability, bit is arguably the best farm size mig welder made. They are very reliable and parts are available if it doesn't work. I would consider$300.00 a bargain.

SON drove over 300 miles 5 years ago to buy his MM200 which "Needed work AND parts" in below Zero temps. Guy wanted $495 for it, not $500 or $475, but $495. Welder needed cables and connectors and it lays the prettiest beads you ever saw!

$300 is a good deal. Guy on the Internet gave SON all kinds of good accurate advice where to get parts.

Tell the guy to bring it to your house and you test it. If it works give him another $100 or $200. If it doesn't then $200. See if he is willing to work with you.

Duane ..... so a guy advertises something for sale and a potential buyer wants the seller to bring it over to his house? Never heard of such a thing, have you ever done that yourself (as a seller or a buyer)?
