Post about how the blue works out, I am thinking that will be my next dog, I love my BC, but they are exhausting.

David: I have only been dog bit twice in my life. Both times it was older Blue Heeler dogs. They "nip" fast.

In the first case I had been petting the dog for a few minutes. He all of a sudden nipped my hand. Took 10 stiches to close my palm up. This dog was a friend's. I was at his farm weekly. So the dog knew me.

The second time I was visiting another friend. When I went to leave the house I walked in front of some bushes. The dog was under these yard bushes. He shot out and bit me in the back of the calf. No stiches but ruined a good pair of jeans.

Blue heelers, Boarder Collies, Australian Shepard's, and etc. Are all working dogs. They are usually smart and full of life. They are not good passive pets. They need to be around people for much of their day. They will get bored and cause trouble if left alone.

Well,at my youngish 73, I am a bit apprehensive about a new pup and all that that entails. I had one at my farm in the early 70's, and he was the best critter I ever had. I sold off my stock and went to Calgary to get in on the 'building Boom', worst thing I had to do was leave that dog behind with a friend (who took good care). But a puppy borne on a cattle farm, moved to a sheep ranch and never left it, was not fair to take him to a city. Still don't like it. He lived to 18 and was well cared for.
