Perkins 4.154 and/or 4.165?

Finally getting to work on my Wilmar Wrangler loader. I'm running into a bit on a issue with the engine. If you go by the number stamped on the block (HA00395N40746H) it comes up as a 4.165. But on the head it has cast into it 4.154. From what I've found these two engines are in the same family and thinking the 165 just has a longer stroke. When I try to search for parts or other info I come up with next to nothing when I search the 4.165 but when I search the 4.154 I come up with everything. Need a water pump, thermostat (didn't have one in it) and upper gasket set. Taking the head to a place tomorrow to get checked over and hoping there is no cracks and if there is that it can be repaired. So far I noticed a crack between the valves on the back two cyl. which from what I've seen tends to be a common spot on any engine. Also it looks like the pre-combustion cubs stamped the head gasket? Engine ran fine but it would fill the coolant with bubbles, I did a band aid fix when I first got it (6 years ago roughly). I've come to rely on the machine way to much so its time to fix it proper.

With the head off, measure the bore and stroke, that will verify the engine size.

But chances are, the head will have to be replaced if you can see cracks. That's always a best solution. Repairing one is a gamble, best used as a last resort if another can't be found.
