I have a 2 1/2 gallon jug of generic GL-5 90W that I picked up at a "tractor" store some time ago. I bought it to use when I change the oil in all of my rotary cutter gearboxes.

The bottle is clearly marked GL-5 but I noticed that nowhere does it say that it has EP additives.

Does all GL-5 have EP additives or should I get another bottle that is so marked?

GL-5 specifically means the oil has the extreme pressure additives required for hypoid gears and such. Unless someone is selling counterfeit oil - anything marked GL-5 has it.

Thanks, JDEM.

I bought it from Orschleins (SP?), and it has their name on it.

I'm going to trust that it is OK for my rotary cutter gearboxes.
