Handier than a pocket on a shirt- around the farm

I got to thinking about this this morning and am curious what you folks think? Seems like it would be a good topic.
There are 3 main items that I think were great buys for the farm that we should have done sooner had we known.

#1: Quick-tach for the westendorf loader. Now instead of being stuck with the loader bucket on it 24/7 we hardly have it ever on it. Instead we use the pallet forks and if we need to change its so darn
simple.
Money well spent!

#2: Hand held plasma cutter. We used to go through alot of acetylene and Oxygen on the torch heating and cutting metal. Now we hardly ever use the torch instead opting for the plasma cutter for cleaner,
simpler, and faster cutting. The torch generally only sees "heating up" jobs now. Money well spent!

#3: 3 point receiver hitch drawbar: I got the drawbar to emulate the Farmall 450 fast hitch drawbar for our 3 point tractors to quickly and easily move pin and ball equipment around the farm and it has
helped expedite the process. Just swap receiver hitches, back up, lift and go. Money Well Spent!

So what are some others you folks have found to be a good buy around your farms that have really helped out and you cant figure how you got along without it? Should be a fun topic!

I would say my Milwaukee battery grease gun. I went thru 4 tubes greasing the disc, 2 finishers and tractors yesterday, what would have been a lot of pumping. I guess I could say all of my cordless tools or on the list.

Some 6 foot lengths of 2x10s. Use them for car ramps. A couple of saw horses and you have a portable work table. Also a couple of 8 foot 2x4s. A very versatile and cheap tool.

Bobcat skid steer and all the attachments. I use it all the time. Maybe the best but not most used attachment is the post hole digger. All my holes are straight, clean and spot on. With the digging right in front of you, you can see what you are doing and easily adjust on the fly. If you hit a rock or get the auger stuck, simply reverse the direction the auger. Huge improvements over a 3pt PHD.

I agree with Tony, Bobcat skid loader is used more than anything else on a yearly basis. Second would be a wire wheel on a 3400 rpm electric motor in the shop--always have something to clean the rust and crud off. Gary.

1. Electric impact wrench - no need to tote an air compressor out to a machine if something breaks, just plug it in and go. I use an ac/dc adapter on my pickup to power it.

2. 4.5" hand grinder - I sharpen my sweeps and etc. while still on the machine, saves me a ton of work taking them off and putting them back on.

3. As someone said, electric grease gun - No telling at the work that little jewel has saved me trying to force grease into an old, stopped up fitting.

4. 5" Bench vise - Maybe the handiest thing on the planet. I use mine almost daily. Mine is the type that has 2 types of jaws, one flat and one for round/pipe stock, that can be turned over and set at whatever angle is best. It also swivels on its base.

1. High lift jack We call them go to h3ll jacks here. That's were they send you if you aren't careful.
2. DeWalt electric grease gun.
3. Pallet forks.

Front end loader . John Deere 3020 power shift or insert you favorite 63 drawbar horsepower tractor , pto driven post hole digger , 300 gallon sprayer with 25 foot booms ,handy man jack , harbor freight

I can't disagree with anyone so far, but a good wire feed welder would be high on the list. Of course a sweet DC with a loader is even more handy.

I've had a 12 foot long 5/16" chain for decades that is polished bright from use. A link hook on one end and a slip hook on the other.

(quoted from post at 16:01:49 06/03/19) Three foot 2x4.

Handiest tool in an auto body shop.

Works good for that "final" adjustment on the door of a '56 Ford! LOL

Believe it or not, they used to use a 2x4 in the assembly plants to adjust doors....
