Got some post emerge on the corn today, and one round with the planter doing soys and....The thunder roared and the rain came down. This is no doubt the toughest spring ever, bar none. Maybe next week will be better.

Ya it's frustrating. I have never seen a spring like this here in northwest Iowa. We have a clear window with no rain for six days but I am cutting hay this afternoon so that clear dry window is guaranteed to shorten up real quick.

Only the best-drained fields have been planted around here. I haven't gotten anything planted yet, except tractors. We had a few sunny, breezy days, and I thought -maybe- I could try the disk-chisel in a day or two. Then it rained again yesterday afternoon and last night. This is what happened when I tried flail chopping today, on 3 year old sod. Made 3 passes there yesterday.

I was all ready to plant grain yesterday, and the sky opened up and rained me off the field. Last night we had a sever thunderstorm, and a few showers today. I have still nothing planted. A few have mudded some corn in. Lots of winter wheat has now been burned down and no tilled into soybeans. Time will tell how that is going to work, one field that has had that treatment, is partly under water today. Wettest planting season I have ever seen also. Some of my friends are running out of haylage, but not any hay fields dry enough to drive over. I can feed on stored feed till the end of June. If it doesn?t dry out by then, oh boy , we will be done for!

Haven't had any rain here in about a week. Lots of tractors out working. I sprayed mine and Jeff's corn today and pulled a drag across some of the oats and corn hoping to break up the crust. We got 5" of rain last week and now it's been hot and baked a thick crust. Not sure the drag did much good. Supposed to get a little rain on Tuesday, could use a shower to soften that crust.

WOW! Boy it be nice to have some of your guy's rain, up here in manitoba canada we have hardly had 5 Inches of rain in the last 12 months. Cows had to go to pasture this
week because of last years feed shortage, I secured some more pasture but we are really hoping for some moisture! I could go on and on..... we just need rain !

How is your straw supply? It's getting very scarce here, selling for up to 100 bucks for big rounds. Guys can't even pasture cattle it's so wet.
Ben

Hey sorry for the late reply!! Straw is going to be tight this year again with not much moisture everything is short right in my area. Guys are selling straw for $40 a bale, I gotta pay $10 to bale a bale already!
