Leyland 154 gearbox safety switch bypass

I think my switch is dead. I removed it and tried to manually operate it instead of letting the pin from the gearbox activate it in the
"S" position. I would think I could connect the two wires going to the switch to bypass it w/o any problems. Will that work or do I have to purchase a new switch? pz

We should never tell you directly to make a system less safe. So, though a proper test of the switch is to tie the leads together and tape them, we will assume you will replace the switch at some future opportunity as that opportunity whacks you in the face. JIM

Something I have done, if the switch has a gasket under it, remove the gasket. That lets the switch screw in just a little further.

Sometimes that will buy some time until a new switch can be bought.

But please, fix it right. Things like that tend to be forgotten about, I know you know about it and will be careful. It's the next operator, the grandson playing on the tractor, or in front of it!
