A small repair

The spindle on one of my wagons siezed and broke the spindle arm and bent the tie rod. This was a poor design because they put just one grease zerk towards the top of the spindle so the lower part didn't get grease. Just a little heat to get it out and I drilled and tapped the lower part for a zerk.

Then I made a new block and bushing for the arm. I made it thicker so it will wear better.

I did both sides even though the other side was ok.

Then some time to straighten the tie rod.

All better now.

Those were weak points on many running gears but you have shown how a little time and talent can correct the problem. That repair surely will outlast the original set-up. Thanks for sharing.

I?ve got one badged as a Cockshutt and I also have a CASE gear. I?ll have to check if it?s an Electric as well.
