brake stuck on ford 860?

Hi everyone. I have a ford 860 that the left brake appears to be stuck on? the tractor will go forward but makes a loud groaning sound from the left side and that wheel seems to have some trouble moving. I went to loosen the adjustment screw in the back to loosen the brake pads, but the screw wont turn. The tractor was working fine before (mind you the brakes have not worked in a long time but i live with out them) I did get it stuck while plowing, but i dont see how this could have affected it. All i did was rock back a forth a little to get the plow to where i could unhook it and than while driving away it started moaing like that.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Buy the parts from here They ain't that much compared to rolling
over a hill and killing yourself or someone else.

Time to start digging in and really find out whats going on. If the brakes have not worked in a while and the adjuster wont move, its overdue for some maintenance. As Dean noted, there may be issue with more than brakes. The only way to find out is get in there and see whats happening. These are pretty basic machines, just heavy parts to deal with so make sure tractor is blocked well and stable before tearing into it.

What do you mean by adjustment screw? It is not what is usually referred to as a screw so I am wondering if you are in the right place.

When you stuck it, did you get mud in the brake drums?

probably pull wheel and drum and clean/repair/adjust brakes

I feel kinda stupid but I hope you all laugh at this. My brother put the parking brake on. So it works again sorry. (Didnt even know it had one)

If the brakes haven't worked for a long time, how did the parking brake work.
You still need to work on the brakes.

it wore the the oil off the shoes, it would seem like the seals used to leak, but someone must have replaced them. as far as we can tell they now longer leak. so the parking brake being stuck on wore the oil off and the left brake now works. yes, the brakes are on the top of my list of "to fix"
