F20 FUEL TANK RUST

Any recommendations on how to clean rust from a fuel tank? I have heard of tying the tank to a tractor wheel and running in gear with chain, BBs, marbles or stones inside. Anyone tried this? Other ideas needed as well. Would rather not have to repaint it. THANK YOU

I figure once the tank starts to rust I will either replace it with new or at least stick a large CB antenna magnet to the bottom of the tank. Good luck finding a large CB antenna magnet these days.

Do as you said with a chain or can use small stone. Tnen put some Evapo Rust in it and then rinse real well and then make sure it's dry. Then get Red Koate and line it like directions say. I did my tank about 40 years ago with different product and it is still good.

Another suggestion might be to fasten it in a concrete mixer, plastic one, and run it with pebbles or a chain. Ellis

I cleaned a dirty rusty tank with water. I removed the sediment bowl, the water carried the rust out. I know this didn't keep it from rusting, but made the tractor serviceable.

9 parts de-mineralized water. 1 part Molasses. Mix well, leave in tank, slosh around once a day. Leave for about 10-12 days, drain and rinse.
