Ford tools over for gravel truck

Gravel truck hit one of my dairy farmer neighbors. Rolled the Ford over, as far as I know, no serious injuries. We are plagued with gravel trucks around these parts. Lots of development going on 20-30 miles to the south, and thanks to the old glaciers, there is many gravel pits near by.

Last summer a County truck, in MW Minnesota, hauling bowling ball stones down to egg sized, lost it's tail gate latch. We were going opposite directions, and it let loose 80 feet before we passed each other. one yard of stone fell on and bounced onto the road. 90 mph combined speed. Every panel except the license plate rear hatch, was damaged. 5500$ woof. Jim

That must have been quite a ride! Glad no one was hurt bad, and it even looks like the Ford will live to see another field. Be careful out there!

I never thought about it before, but I like that escape hatch in the top of the cab. Neither my Massey or Kubota has it. So glad there was no serious injuries, usually doesn't turn out that way. Keith

As I ride down the road on my JD 2755 (trying my best to keep my head lined up with the windshied post and exhaust pipe, LOL), I feel pretty safe because I am going so slow. But, if someone comes around the corner at 50 mph, it is still a pretty high speed wreck. I just purchased a new seat belt assembly from Mother Deere, to replace the old one that did not work so well. I will be using it on the road.

A year or two ago here in West TN, a young man, husband and father, working for the county mowing grass, was driving on the shoulder of a big highway with a 65 mph speed, and a semi came by at speed, hit the outside dual, the fella was shot right through the back window of the tractor, then run over by the semi. Dead right there.

My company sprays herbicide on thousands of miles of two lane roadsides. Much safer than mowing.

Everyone please be careful out there. Let's all get home safe.

Sort of like we are plagued by manure trucks from the local foreign mega-dairies. 2-300 trucks a day on some roads, gravel roads. They destroy everything. Right to farm in MI needs to be addressed so that these guys have to pay for the damage they cause. But for now they don't. Hope your neighbor was ok, people driving are getting dumber, and there are more of them every day.
