Hooking up Mdl 48 Loader Hyd. to 67' gas engine 2510 JD

Hello, I am needing some help on the proper way to hook a Mdl 48 loader with Dreser valve controls to my 67' 2510 JD gas engine w/syncrorange transmission. I have a single remote and want to hard line in so i still have the use of my external remote. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

In fro t of the brake pedals, there should be a line coming out with a 90 degree fitting on it. Remove it and get a tee to replace it and connect the supply
line to the valve there. On mine I drilled and tapped the trans filter housing and connected the return line to it. That should do it.

Camerste, please go to the John Deere discussion forum and scroll down. No more than a couple day s ago someone asked almost the same question and the great people that
help out here gave a step by step complete with pictures.

The thread on JD Forum that Shaler was referring is titled "'3010 installing 148 loader"'. If one searches the YT forum the should be many, many posts addressing this subject

Your valve will have to be compatible with a closed center hydraulic system. If it came off a 1961
or newer JD it will work. Some valves can be converted from open center to closed center by
installing a plug. Contact the mfg. or a good hydraulic shop for this info.

iirc there were a couple of images there as well.

Thank y'all for the information on how to hook up the loader. It was a great help. I have it mounted and hooked up now.
Now, I have a new issue. Since I have it mounted and operational it is lugging the tractor down and my three point lift will not lift unless the tractor is at a higher RPM. I have checked the screen filter in the rearend and the one in the hyd. pump and they were both clean and I changed the hyd. filter after installation just to make sure there wasn't any trash that may have been in the loader system. I have noticed when i hold the bucket control lever back after the bucket is curled up the lugging goes away. What could be a possible issue?

Sounds typical for when an open center valve is installed on a tractor that has closed center hyd's such as a JD 2510. Simple test of your valve is disconnect loader valve return hose from tractor then aim open return hose in hyd filler hole on tractor with both spool valves in NEUTRAL start engine & no oil should exit open return hose.

I'll try that and see what happens. What do I need to do if I do get fluid back?

That would indicate you now have an "open center" valve.

Some valves can be converted (with a plug or kit of parts) to closed center. You will have to identify the valve you have, then determine of a "closed center" changeover is available, otherwise you'll have to replace it with a closed center valve.

If oil flows out of return hose the valve will need a closed center plug installed if it's a convertible type valve if not it will need to be replaced with the correct type closed center valve for tractor hyd's to operate correctly.

. We said the JD needs to have a closed Center joystick valves or it would not work properly .
There is the off chance that there is a closed Center valve with a relief valve that is lifting . Crank the relief valve to at least 2350psi.

So I have a Gresen model 2712 valve. Where would I find a closed conversion kit and about how much are they.

You have a very basic open center valve, and I don't know if there would be a closed center conversion kit available for it, wouldn't surprise me if that's not possible.

Gresen has been gone for a long time, having been taken over by PH (Parker Hannifin).

You mite find the PH distributor in your area, and see what they have to offer.

If no help there. you will have to toss the valve and replace it with a valve that is closed-center compatible.
