Case 630 PTO

I recently bought a Case 630 COM that I assume had PTO clutch problems when I got it because it would not stop turning. After using it for a while with nothing on the PTO it quit turning all together. It spins freely by hand but will not engage. I also seem to have fluid moving from the torque converter to the transmission. Ive heard some weird things about the case o matics just wondering if it seems more likely PTO clutch problem or if I need to split it

I will just generalize here. Before you split the tractor, pull the PTO unit off the back of the tractor. A 20min job. Pull the unit apart and check things out. Your oil migration problem is likely a leaky packing on your 3pt piston, but seals on the PTO shaft that extends from flywheel to rear of tractor could be a possibility.
For further more detailed answers on how to questions, drop down the the CASE DB forum below and post further questions there where the Case guys hang out.

Thanks. I put one on the Case page too. So far I haven't gotten it fixed but have haven gotten some good ideas.

Got it figured out on the case page. Guess I really didn't get beat up too bad for $800

I saw that Bro got you straightened out. I had forgotten about the disconnect collar on the end of the internal drive shaft. It looks like some TLC and paint and you will have a real nice tractor. Once you understand and get used to the converter transmission you will love it.

I think Ive got the trans figured out unless im jumping back and forth between tractors then I forget. I think for now im just gonna use it at least until I figure out whats going on with the fluids not staying in the right places.

Hook something to the 3pt hitch, raise it up shut off the tractor and leave it set. If the 3pt drops after setting, likely a leaky packing on the cylinder. If you are going to need parts, a lot of of us Case owners get them from John Saeli---- 315 five eight five 9826 He is very good to work with.
