Cub with 42 inch woods mower

Drove one for 30 years. Hard to wear out,
easy to repair. Slow and underpowered.
Zero turns put them out of business in my
opinion. Mine now works the garden with
cultivators.

As GreenAcre noted, Cub with 42" is slow and underpowered. Mine is now in bad need of a new clutch, but when it was more functional I found it wasn't nearly as good at mowing (power-wise) as my old John Deere 212 and 214 garden tractors with 46-inch mowers. If I let the grass get over 6 inches, the Cub bogged down. I still think it's a neat old tractor, though. Time to split it, I'm afraid.

I don't know why a Cub would be under-powered with a 42" mower. I got a 60" on mine and it does ok. It's not a brush hog, its a finishing mower.

He said it has good power. My grass does get kind of tall. I think it will probably out last my newer one , ride smoother but I think I will miss my hydra drive. It should hold its value a little better aswell.

(quoted from post at 06:32:40 05/19/19) With only 10hp at the belt a riding lawnmower will outwork a Cub.
After watching some videos I think I would not be happy with one as it appears the clutch has to be out for the mower to work? I know this is how my Ferguson. Makes mowing kind of difficult.
