One of the breakdowns from this spring was a broken spindle on the plow. I've seen several break like this, but this one has been broken along time.

You can see it's all rusted and banged up on the end from beating together. How on Earth did that hub stay on? I plowed over 40 acres and was down to 3 rounds left when it fell off. I just can't understand how that could happen in spite of decades of fixing things brought to me by people who have found new and creative ways to destroy things. Lol

Anyway, since you can't replace the spindle I just welded it back on. I just ground it to a V and used 7018 on it.

It held for 3 rounds so far, hopefully it will be ok. Lol.

Many things have been saved with "vee it out and weld it with 7018"
Many things have been saved without further mention or consequence.

if I had a nickel for every time something broke "with three rounds to go", I would have more money than Bezos and Musk combined.

I have never heard of a Grinder Lathe. I like that.!! Thought it was a skill to use a drill press lathe. Also center drill holes into bolts with two drills. Bolt in the big old huge drill and the bit in the cordless. Smooth a rusty shaft in a drill press with some fine sand paper. Don't use four O steelwool! That stuff has a tendency to grab.
