Filling a hole....

Bought another old Gasboy electric pump. Putting in a tank for gasoline so I don't have to make side trips with the trucks, and other reasons. Restored one of these a year ago...painted it green for my diesel tank. Then this one came up. Life plays with me. Going to take off the green and make it red. But the fella who had it wanted a lamp...not a pump. So he drilled a 3/8" hole in the top...I will spare you the pictures of it as a lamp...real ugly. It does work as a pump. Very well in fact. But I need to plug that hole and I am not a welder and would rather not pay to have it welded. On the other end of the spectrum I could just cut the head off a carriage bolt and epoxy it in the hole...or? Any suggestions?

Most body shops should have a plug that will snap into the hole....similar to the ones used to plug the hole in a fender where an antenna was located. Cheap and easy, paint right over it.

Go the underside there and clean off about a four inch square, cut you a 4 in square of fine screen wire, lay it down then place a small wad of bondo on the wire and press it. Should stick to the metal , hold the screen and if you did it right some squirted thru. Then all you do is sand smooth on the top, if not add or fill to your hole and smooth off.

Any Ace, True Value, or Hardware Hank would have what you?re looking for, body plug, usually, Black, white and ivory. All you need to do is measure the diameter of the drilled hole and get the corresponding plug. You can rough it up and use something like Zinser primer for plastic and paint it any color you want.

ya thats what i was thinkin ben, a nice chrome snap in plug like used to plug a blank hole , got them in my 420 two cylinder dash to plug a cigarette plug in lighter.
they would look real nice in there.

I would use a plastic electrical hole plug. 1/2" conduit size knock out requires a 7/8" hole. They are tapered nicely and can be sealed to keep out water.

I have the one pump done and on the tank. The tank needs paint. I will try to remember to get a pic Monday. Tomorrow is mothers day...have to hit the ground running!

I would use a weathertight knock out plug.
Waterproof. Come in different sizes. Look nice. Can be painted to match.
Any electrical supply outfit would have them.
