Agreed, I ran out of air long before fuel on my EFI, if I had it to do over again, would have bought a custom head from Goldburg, he mills them out and puts in bigger valves.
 
I built several heavy 44/444 engines for pulling for several years. We did bore the jets but never had to change the carb. As David said the most increase one can gain is by bigger intake and exhaust valves, changing the cam can help but where we were pulling RPMS were limited to 10% over stock. Bore and stroke can be increased on that engine also. If you see anyone I have a pulling ready propane 55 MH head that I would sell cheap. Already has the big valves.
 
I would totally agree with that.

I put 9.5 to 1 pistons in mine, had to have them made, should have put in flattops, with a turbo.
