Looks like he'll be coughing up part of his field for a few days, hope he at least has a dust mask. Can this operation be done any faster with the wheeled tractor or is it just an inherently slow thing to do?

Growing up, that?s how it always looked. Dad never did own a cab tractor and it always blew so you were in the dust.

Crawlers are slow . Depending on how rough the
field Is I normally drill about 4.5 to 5 mph which is
pretty much high gear on most old steel track
crawlers

I dont know how fast my td6 goes but I feels like the tracks are going to fly off in high gear.

Dust mask?!?!?! What's that??? You hoped for a crosswind!!
You went home at night, coughing up mud and muddy snot!!!
When you took a shower, there was enough mud from your body to
almost plug the drain!! Mother always gave me hell if I didn't
rinse the tub after a shower. She said it looked like the Mississippi delta!!!

We don?t need no stinking dust mask and yes after a big day farming on a tractor without cab come home looking like external_link should save the topsoil from the tub

Here in MI we didn't have that much dust when we plowed or worked ground with the Cat. Until about 1980 we did all of our tillage with the Cat. Planted with the 830 case and, drilled with either the case or the MD depending on time of year and if it was wet or not. The cat powders the soil less than a wheel tractor due to the lesser PSI on the ground.
