More Rain - No Corn Planted in Our Area Yet

We had another 1" of rain the last 24hrs here in South Central Illinois just 35 Miles East of St. Louis Mo. Our sump pump in the basement is cycling every 97 seconds. Some farmers got Anhydrous on about 2 weeks ago. Seems like this is going to be another year like 1996 here.

Same here in Macon county. Water standing in fields now with more rain coming Monday thru Thursday. Ain't good.

Same here, South central MI. Everything soaked, water standing, and more rain coming next week. Going to be late spring.

John B.,

It's been similar in southern MN too. Every time it gets close to being dry this spring... it has either snowed or rained.

Wondering if some will try to plant corn today, IF at all possible.

Forecast not good for farmers:
Tonight - might rain
Sunday - chance of showers
Monday - chance of showers
Tuesday - showers late
Wednesday - showers likely
Thursday - chance of showers
Friday - only partly sunny

I plan to plant my first field today here in NW Iowa. We are lucky we do not have ponds though. We have just been too damp and cold. Worked the ground yesterday but we had a shower last night so the soil is too sticky to plant this morning. I am in the same general area of the country as Sweetfeet so we have the same long range forecast she has.

Most corn would have been in and a lot of beans. Two days of dry and more rain forecast. I would say the farmers should start looking in to elbow macaroni for this year. :)^D I have about three acres of yard out front and can't drive across the yard without cutting in. I think I might buy a vac trailer and feed it to the horses. When I lead them out in the grass they sure seem to like it better than the hay.

I'm 80 miles south of fixer upper, at least in this close area the estimate is at least 80 percent done with corn, lot of beans going in now. I'm going to hold back on beans ground is a little cold for me. Dug some corn planted a week ago it has a half inch sprout but darn it's sitting in cold goo.

Not planting corn but it's time to get the winter hay crop up and it looks like I am going to have a mess on my hands with no hay put up. Same here on rain forecast with current soggy dirt....would take a week to dry out to get on it and another week to dry for baling.
