John Deere 318 mower deck

Anyone ever mount a different brand deck under a 318 rider? I have a 50inch deck that is getting tired. I haven't been able to find a good used deck, but do see some listed for other brands. Just thought I would throw this out there to see if anyone had and experience with this type of replacement. Al

Does Deere have a new deck? I bought one years ago. Was up dated style.

I called my local dealer and all they want to do is sell me a new complete tractor with deck. I still cant find anything wrong with a 318. It has power steering, right and left brakes, Hydraulics, hydro trans, what else could I ask for? Dealer told me I could cut my mowing time in half buy buying the new model. I asked how? He said I could mow at twice the ground speed as a the old 318 could. I told him that would be unsafe in my book. I would buy a new deck if the dealer had one. The rest of the tractor is just fine. I have owned a 318 since 1989 with a 46 inch deck. To buy something close to that equivalent these days is pushing $10,000 and maybe not as good a machine.

I had one with a 50" deck great machine, it was available with a 48" and 46" also

Try looking up am100164. Should be the correct one,looks to be $1460. Not sure if it's a shell or complete deck.

That may of been for a 322. I had one in the shop too but cant remember what the deck went on.

The JD mounting system just isn't very compatible with others. But, with enough time, skill and desire It could be done I'll bet. But, the 318 was available with 46, 48 and 50" decks over the years. The 48 and 50 could be had with a later, deeper design.
That basic design fit 140, 300, 312, 314 316, 318, 322. AM100164.

Maybe you will have better luck if you expand your search to include those donors.
There are a lot of the older 46and 48 versions around, newer design is harder to find.
JD parts still shows that as a current number but under availability they note 'see your dealer'.

My dealer has always been able to locate stuff like that for me. but not cheaply, sometimes not even reasonalbly priced.
