John Deere mower on a CA Allis

So I have this three blade mower deck that I want to mount under my CA. Cause the CA has a clutch on the right axle. Not really a live PTO but should work. I need a pulley that will fit on the six spline PTO for a 5/8's v belt. Were could I find one of those?

I have seen them at farm stores and even TSC and Rural king. They have a weld a sprocket section. You pick the center hub you need and then the pulley or sprocket then you weld them together.

I?d figure out what pulley diameter I want go to the store get one of those weld on pulleys and then I?d buy the cheapest pto adapter i could find cut the splines off the adapter and weld the pulley to the remaining hub of the adapter could probably do it for under 50$

Another option would be a pump coupler of a pto powered sprayer pump then get the hub and pulley with the hub sized for a shaft to fit inside the pump coupler and stick a shaft through the pulley and into the pump coupler then you could change pulleys easily without much cost

The Allis B, C, and CA had pulleys that mounted on the PTO shaft to drive the center mount sickle bar mower. There are two shaft sizes, 1 1/8 and 1 3/8, both 6 spline. If you can find one of those it might work. The one for the larger shaft is a double groove about 6 or 6 1/2 in. in dia. and the one for the 1 1/8 shaft is larger, maybe 9" and is for a single 7/8" belt, the smaller double pulleys are for 5/8" belts. the pulleys bolted to the hub so if the pulley dia. wasn't right you might find a pulley the size you need that you cold bolt on. The hubs were held on the pto shaft by pinch or clamp bolts on the rear of the hub.

Along with all the other ideas presented here, you know the type of pulleys which wedge/lock to a shaft? I think you can buy the center hub for the standard 6 spline PTO, and then, of course, fasten the pulley of your choice to it. No manufacturing required.

The woods midmount mower for the allis Chalmers mounts in the place of the belt pulley. That is a tapered shaft. I have a pulley but I changed it to the pto spline. I?ll look when I get home and post you a picture. It might be something you could use.

Most any farm and home store will have the PTO hub that you weld to a pulley so as to have what ever size you needs. I did that on a sickle bar mower I have on an A/C C

When I put the mower on the Farmall B I ordered by a pulley the size I wanted from surplus center with a 1-3/8" round bore and installed it on the splined shaft with a set screw. It worked fine for years.

All my local Tractor Supply stores have PTO spline weld-a-pulley/sprocket hubs on the rack.

What size pulley are you planning on using? If you're trying to drive the mower off a 540 RPM PTO, you may need a very large pulley to get the blades spinning fast enough to work. The Woods belly mowers require something like a 21" diameter pulley on the PTO.

Sure enough TSC had one of those hubs, guess I never was looking for a splined one before. They had the pulleys on a clearance shelf. But did not have a 7 inch one. Thanks for the help!

Well my life is almost always easy. Just trying to find a good use for a CA. I have 20 old tractors so each one needs a job and I don't have a job. My dues have been paid.
