I think it might be a No. 28 from the 40's. Spoke wheels say it is not later than a mid 50's plow. 2 levers say clutch lift but looks like 2 hydrolic hoses, clutch lift would have 1 rope.

That's a nice plow.

It would take a pretty good 40s vintage tractor to pull it (at least in my ground).

Part number, not a serial numberm, machines did not have serial numbers at that time. And any other information would have just been paint.

Same model plow as DanialW was asking just this morning on implement section about taling a 2 and a 3 bottom and making a 4 bottom out of them.

What size bottoms are you thinking? Most were 12" bottoms and a Farmal M or a late model JD A could handle them with no problems. Now a 16" bottom if they were made that big I don't know.

I noticed that after I posted that lol he said it doesn?t seem to want to lift, the hub looks to be notched, is there supposed to be spring loaded paws inside similar to an old Newholland take to lift it?

You will have a hard time finding 3 12in plows so where did they all go, The common was 3 14in and they are a ton of them for sale.

12s would definitely make a plow a lot easier to pull than 14s or 16s . I couldn?t believe how much more a 3x16 plow cuts per pass than even a 3x14

In my area the 12" was the common one and 14" I never saw one of. but all were junked out about 35 years ago.

^' plus 1" deeper. A 4-12" will cut as wide as a 3-16" plow but the 16" cuts 2" deeper so you are handling almost as much dirt with a 3-16 as you would with a 5-12" plow. I was years old before I ever knew there was anything but 12" or 14" bottoms. And places top soil was only about 6" deep and did not want to mix it with the subsoil. now they want to mix the subsoil with the top soil, I don't know why.

The spring is on the outside to pull the lever the rope is atached to back into place. You can just use a generic hardware store spring there. Factory would not be avaible anymore for years. Easy for that spring to break and get lost. But dried up grease inside cluth will also keep from liftimg. need to take apart and clean and make sure spring is there. Take pictures when you take apart to clean so you can see how it goes back together.
