Case 2096

I recently bought a case 2096. To my understanding the pto shaft is reversible. The 1000 pto is sticking out now but when I take the shaft out and try to reverse it it will not go in all the way. Its the the 1000 side is longer then the 540. Anyone have any input id appreciate it thank you.

try rotateing the shaft as you push in on it.

You may have to rotate it some
to align the gears. Could also
be stuck a little if it hasn't
been changed in many years,
try tapping on it lightly with
a rubber hammer or block of
wood if turning it doesn't
work.

My 2090 has the same setup and occasionally will be hard to get the shaft seated deep enough for the snap ring to engage.

I hope it still drives. There are 2 pins that connect the spring loaded shift cup that your shaft sets in
and the shift collar around it, in the PTO housing. A hammer will break those pins so it will not engage. I
