Posted in JD forum also, went to move tractor felt like a bump
when pushed clutch in about 2 inches from bottom and will not
go into gear, will go to park but that's all, need help on fix if
possible. Thanks

Remove inspection cover on the bottom of clutch housing with aid of flashlight look inside to determine the problem. It's possible a PP finger bolt broke.

Sorry to sound dumb but where exactly is that only plate I've
found is 2 by 4 plate in front of brake pedals.

Look up inside with a flashlight. Pull the clutch pedal forward with your hand. The throw out bearing should move forward, contacting the clutch fingers which in turn releases the clutch plate. The bearing needs to be greased periodically. If it seizes up, the fingers get burned off quick. The PTO clutch bearing has a grease zerk too. Grease both of them.
