Farmall 460 diesel loss of hydraulic power

Good morning all,
I purchased a 1964 Farmall 460 diesel last year and it has been a great addition to my small farm. It has been parked since hay season last year and I am getting it ready for spring hay season and my hydraulics just quit working. I checked the fluid level and it was a little low. I added some fluid and found a leak in one of the metal lines. I removed it and had a new rubber line made and it worked fine while I shuffled around all my equipment for maintenance but yesterday the hydraulics just quit. The steering assist quit and I can't lift of lower the three point. Are they any common problems I should know about? I when I finally get a day off I plan on pluming in a pressure gauge but are there any known problems with these? Thanks for any help or guidance.

The most common issue is the drive from the clutch plate, to the pumps and PTO. It is tubular, and splined to the clutch pressure plate to rotate all the time
the engine runs. The splines wear out and the drive slips. Use the inspection plate to check it. A new drive coupler, and a new clutch pressure plate cure the
problem. I would put in a new driven disk, pilot bearing, and throwout bearing when split. Jim

Is it normal for it to work fine one week then just quit the next? I wasn't planning on tearing into my transmission before hay season.

Jim is most of the way there. First if what he says is correct your PTO should not work also, check it, if it is you are in for a split. Does it make any noises when you move the levers? I would start first by changing the oil filter and check the bypass screen on the brake side of the torque tube and then go from there.

before tearing anything apart, have you checked the hydraul;ic filter? Fluid goes through it for both hydraulic lift and PS pump.
