970 On The Grain Vac

Short video of my brother's 970 Case running the Rem grain vac 7 years ago. A cool April morning when the ground was still frozen from overnight so we could get out without the loaded semi breaking through the frost. 970 was working pretty hard that morning for some reason. The vac is not normally that big a load. 2090 hardly knows its back there.

I always thought moving the giant hose and vacuum end was worse than shoveling combined with the noise but it nice to load a semi in 5 minutes

Speaking as a guy with a worn out back from too many years of shoveling grain, that vac is the best thing that ever happened to grain handling.

That all depends on how many are interested in Case tractors running grain vacs :) The subject came up in a Case tractor discussion in which somebody commented that a 1070 Case did not have the dual speed pto. I was pretty sure they were the same as the 970 having the reversible 540 or 1000 pto shaft and posted that link to my video showing a 970 actually powering a 1000 rpm grain vac.

I forgot to add I shoveled 250 bushel of Barley yesterday,, been looking for a reasonable grain vac for some time,, found one not long ago but it was 2000 miles away,, I have been shoveling out of these bins for over 50 years now,, never did like it,, and where I do all my work alone it does makes one be careful when crawling over a running auger to get in the bin

Seems there are no reasonable priced new vacs. Rem and Brandt are over $30,000 new here. The one I use belongs to the trucker so I'm lucky. I'd be looking for a good used one if I had to buy one. Way faster than the 7 inch auger we sometimes use to load out of a hopper bin. Vac takes all the dust and back strain out of cleaning out flat bottom bins. Probably not the most economical with a 100 hp tractor running full speed but I don't complain. The misery of grain dust and aching back is something I don't miss.
