Manure application

Yes just try to do a thin/even coating. The earlier the better. If the crop is more mature it can be burnt by the manure.

I have a vertical beater spreader that breaks the manure up into small chunks and spreads a 30 foot pattern. That way there is minimal damage from the manure and wheel tracks every 30 feet. If I need to spread during growing season I do it on my hay ground after putting up hay or on pasture that needs a fertility bump.

I wouldn't spread liquid manure on a growing crop, but dry clump manure would be ok.
We spread chicken litter on pasture, hay and crops, haven't burnt up a crop yet.

I used to spread sheep pen manure pack on my fields every spring as soon as I could get on them. I used a side flinging chain type that broke it ip very fine.
