Fixing snow bucket----

We had a lot of snow this winter and besides our own I pushed for my buddy who broke his ankle so the pipe edge I put on my bucket was wearing out. I built it out of a piece of pipe from the carriage of a Mayrath auger I junked out. It was not real thick wall and the ends were wore out. I was going to cut the mounting tabs off and flip it over and weld them on the other side but decided different. I took a wore soil saver disc blade and took my plasma and cut wear strips out of them. They are thicker in the middle so they followed the wear pattern of the pipe. I then welded them to the worn ends and ran beads to the rest of the pipe. Of course it warped but with the help of a ratchet strap and a big hammer I got it back on. It is not pretty but it was cheap. Have not used it yet and hope I don't for I hope winter is over in N.E Iowa!!!---Tee

It does not dig into the ground when pushing snow when there is no frost. I bought that bucket the year I put a lot more crushed rock in my yard--it was a challenge until I put the pipe on.---Tee

We usually have ice under our snow and need the edge to cut in, but we don't get near as much snow as you do. I mainly use the rear blade on the tractor.

SV I did what you did the first year used a thin wall tube it did not hold up either, I found a piece of sch. 40 tubing 3/8 or so thick and built this on 3 years ago , I just re head face it when it needs it

Hey Big T - thats a good idea -- nice job on the rebuild -- I did find a way to skim the snow without digging - I tip the bucket back just so the cutting edge is a half inch or so off the grade then apply down pressure on the lift cylinders -it will ride on the back half of the bucket and still take everything off - I dont think You could get an icecream pail of rocks off My grass--- By the way a 500 case sold in my neighborhood for $1100 last sat. You guys in Western Iowa have more flat land--It is too hilly in Eastern Iowa to try that! The Wife gives me HeII if I get rock on her lawn---Tee
