OT gas caddy

I recieved a mini-catalog from Northern Tool & Equipment. They have there 14 gallon Duramax fuel caddy for 89.99. I have been thinking of buying one, I have not seen prices this low in quite a while. Are they worth the $ or should I continue with my 5 gallon containers. Sure would be nice to have one big container, but as I said, if there not any good no use in spending the $. Thanks

A friend got one thinking it would be a good way to fuel his boat in the marina which does not have a gas pump. Ended up not really working too well. The caddy itself is fine, the trouble is getting the full caddy down from the bed of his truck. When it's full, it is too heavy for him (bad back) to unload. With a helper it would be fine or if one was younger/stronger.

I have a 25 gallon caddy I use for diesel. Empty I can lift it into the back of my pickup. When I get back home I use my loader to stand it upright, lower the bucket so it is sitting on the tailgate. Roll the caddy into the bucket and haul it into my shop.

For gas, I installed a quick disconnect on the fuel rail of my pickup, put a switch and relay under the hood that turns on the fuel pump. I keep a hose in the cab, plug it in and flip the switch.

Have had one for about 7 years. The tank is okay but the nozzle lasted about 3 years. Replaced the nozzle with a ball valve. Hard to handle when full unless you have equipment to lift and suspend the tank to gravity flow.

That sounds like a pretty good deal, L&M has a 25 gal one advertised for $239, but that would weigh close to 200 pounds full, and I wouldn't want to leave it in the back of the truck when I drive around. A person could use ramps to roll it down to the ground. I just use plastic cans, mostly 2 gal. Our biggest tractor is diesel, I have 2 5 gal containers for that.

I just bought a 130 gallon tank, with a hand pump set up for $90. Used of course. I am going to rebuild the hand pump, if necessary and have the local bulk truck deliver me gas. I am fed up with the 5 gallon can idea and their stupid "vent free" gurgling, slurping etc.

I thought that was true also but I googled it and couldn't find where it was before I made my first comment. If they can sell them it must be legal to use them. There might be an exemption for agriculture, but the one I saw was for rolling out on your dock and putting gas in a boat.
