I want to replace the axles on my Big Tex trailer. I have heavy duty axles I installed about 15 years ago, and can't get brake parts. Any suggestions on the axle weight I need to replace what I have now? Thanks Stan

Call RedNeck trailer in Lincolnton North Carolina ,talk to Keith he probably get the parts you need for your old ones or give you advice on new ones.
If the axle your wanting to replace is a 3500Lb axle I would think you should go back with that same size. Next up would put you at 5200Lb axle So your trailer went from 7K to 11k can the trailer handle the extra 4K pounds

Take a pic of your brakes showing the backing plate and parts and post the drum diameter and width. I most likely can get you the parts.

First question as to the size, how many lug nuts per wheel. That will give you a close guess on the size.

The brake lining is not the problem. It is the magnet. The magnet is 8 1/4 od land 4 3/4 id one inch thick. That is the problem. That part is from the 50's and all the research I have done it is no longer available. Stan

Yes, but likely the whole backing plate can be changed to upgrade it to a newer version. Plus you can get new backing plate mounts to put on newer brakes if needed for most size brakes. Would be unusual that something used a drum size that is obsolete.

I bet you have 7000# capacity axles. I wouldn't use anything else. Should be a serial number plate somewhere on the trailer that says what it's rated capacity is. Did you ever think of looking at that?
