Rim question

I have two good rims with tires mounted that won?t quite fit on my tractor.the ones I want to put on my tractor are right at 8? center to center of bolt holes the originals are 8-3/16 center to center (metric I?m sure since there off of a long tractor) would drilling the lug bolt holes a little bigger work as far as not wobbling when going down the road? Tire size is the same but trying to save dismount and remount x2

I would not drill out the existing holes in order to "fit" the rims onto the tractors hub.
I would look for weld in lug hole reinforcing ring. With the bolt pattern for your tractor.
Install it with tack welds straddling the existing holes.
Drill rim using the ring as a "jig".

So can I cut out and tack weld my existing centers
over the rims I want to use then drill them out or
not?

No.

This is a stupid idea, it will not work.

I like to save some effort (lm lazy like you) but this is -not- going to end well.

Might as well be blunt about it.

No.

No stupid would be attempting it without finding out if it was doable or not.its not I?ll bite the bullet and pay the tire guy

I?ve done it on slow speed stuff and gotten along ok but for the front of a tractor it?s not worth it long term.

Not the front it?s the back.14.9-28 on ?? Rims I bought used.will have to dismount 4 tires to remount 2 to use

You could, yes. But once you start cutting your old rims, you no longer have them to fall back on.
If the hub diameter of the new won't fit the tractor, you might have to actually weld the old center portion into the newer rims.
If the new rim hub will work on the tractor, why not cobble up a jig that will allow you to transfer the bolt pattern from old to new.
Using the center hole to keep the hole pattern centered on both rims as you center punch the new pattern onto the new rims.

That way your not totally destroying the old rims.

The way I read this you have the correct rims.
You are just trying to save the money to a tire guy to have him switch them over.

I am as cheap as they come and even I can see you are fighting a losing battle with the welding and drilling.
I vote spend the money and save the headache.

I've read that welding on rim with a tire mounted on it is very unsafe. I'll advise to remove tire from rim before any welding on rim is performed.

Heat transfer will increase the air pressure unless you let the air out, but if welding right against the rim the heat will melt the tube.

What tractor are you wanting to put the Long's wheels on that has one piece wheels.

The tractor is a 445 long with good original rims but tires are shot.i have the same size tires on
pressed steel rims I wanted to bolt on to the 445 but the bolt pattern is just a little wider. I will not
attempt it.will dismount the pressed rim tires and remount them on the original rims.
