History channel-The Amarican Farm

I just watched the trailer on youtube. the entire documentary is available there for $1.99
I wasn't pleased with audio trying to hear and understand all the farmers comments in the various barns. Perhaps a Maine accent added to that.

It does show american determination and strength to overcome diversity, but at what cost?

Just going through that and putting in your all, plus another 200% effort into something precarious.

Milk

Here in Vt a place that at one time train shipped milk all down the east coast there are fewer and fewer dairies. Oh sure there are some. Perhaps mostly co-ops and in contract with some larger entities to larger entities.

from my perspective I see the disabilities agency working out to help the farmers as the farm now makes no money and can't pay taxes. The state loves looking at the old barns so selling them for development is not an option. Let alone with so few people here there is no demand for suburbia. They take disability to suicide. And housing in a HUD subsidized apt.

Those days of a pickup and tractors just memories, bringing sadness. Medications help I guess.

I had a problem with the dubiousness of the turkey deal. I wouldn't stick my neck out like that, on a hope that they would keep me getting turkeys with no risk to them. The milk deal seemed doomed from the git go. The beef guy in VA is living on a hope and dream. Nice but doesn't pay the bills. I thought they all had to much debt and risk with not much for a chance at reward. Crop prices are to low for my liking to buy dirt.
Maybe I am all wrong, I always felt if the item I was buying would not stand up as the collateral then it was either over priced or something was wrong with the deal.

I think that was 2009
the film 2012
and by 2014 it failed first googlin the documentary and bet the farm maine
googling maine dairy today
there are a few stragglers mentioned still fighting
the industry as a whole appears to be tainted by the use of bio-solids
perhaps industrial sewage solids used as fertilizers

If they were only bigger perhaps they could have squashed the bad news and made their own good news
well they tried
