So I now have it split and the transmission open but now the problem of figuring out just which way to remove the gears so I can remove the broken reverse shiftier fork. Beginning to think I'll need to find a manual before getting any deeper. But then the other problem so far I have not been able to find a manual for it so maybe a not so fun thing to mess with

How old is that tractor. Around here the dealers are advertising a 6-7 year warranty. Why did the owner want you to fix it rather than getting it fixed under warranty by an authorized dealer???

Loren: The Mahindra warranty is worth less than the paper it is written on. The company pays little to zero labor and poorly on parts. So it really depends on the dealer to make the warranty work. Then you have the majority of the Mahindra dealers being small time shops and such. so their dealer network is not very good. Also many dealerships are only open a few years and then close or drop the line.

This is a 2006 tractor. It shows signs of having been fixed before as in salvage yard numbers on a few parts in it. Looks to have had brake/rear end work done in the past. Not sure yet why the shiftier fork broke but it is and of course it is not easy to remove and replace.

JDSeller, you got that right. We took on Mahindra some years back. They never paid anywhere near the total amount on any warranty claim we submitted. Once, our mechanic rode with their regional service manager, on a warranty service call for a recurring problem. They were gone for almost eight hours, and the warranty paid one hour. Our shop rate was $80 per hour, they paid $10. That means we were in the hole $630 for just that one claim. Often they wouldn't even pay dealer cost on parts purchased from them. State law here requires them to pay full labor rate, full hours billed (not flat rate), and 115% of dealer cost on parts. The "Indian" management said they knew this, and would "work on it!" We finally figured out how to handle the problem! We gave them 3 days to get there equipment off of our lot! They still owe us about $10-12,000 in unpaid claims! We'll probably never see a dime!

I have a Mahindra dealer 15 miles from me. His frequent regular radio and printed adds say he is the biggest Mahindra dealer in NY. Over 150 tractors in stock. Yes 150. He also runs a tractor salvage yard and auction service.
I have talked to the guys out in the yard about the tractors and they say they have been real good. I can't comment on how they handle the warranty, but if this guy had problems with them he would dump them in a heart beat. You can check out MacFadden and Son, Sharon Springs, NY.

It's been a long time since Mahindra has built IH-based tractors. Nothing they sell now has any commonality with any IH designs.

They're trying to chase Kubota, but their management appears to be exceptionally arrogant. That pretty much killed the Mahindra trucks and SUV's that were supposed to be coming into this country a few years ago.
