Beautiful early spring day here in Southwest Washington State. It's been a little dry here so was able to drag some of the hayfields.

What is with all the contour strips appearing to be mowed back and forth. Why did they not follow parallel to the road?? Perhaps a wet spot in the low area, but wouldn't it have been prudent to straighten out the strips once clearing wet area so they did not magnify into the rest of the field where you were"dragging"??? What does dragging do for the field?? Some sort of de-thatching process??

I see now that the strips are from your dragging. Should have looked closer.
Still wondering what you are trying to accomplish by dragging sod ground. I have never seen that done in a field. Lots of suburbanites think they have to de-thatch their lawns.

We always drug our wet meadows because we grazed them. Always tried to break up the cow pies so they don?t plug up the sickle mower

Here in SJ there are a couple of new things appearing. The darn Sugar ants are starting up. The other is in the picture. Showed up today.

Loosens the soil for better water and fertilizer infiltration into the soil.Pulls up moss and lightly rooted weeds as well.My hay fields green up quicker and thicker.Follow up with fertilizer per soil sample results.Only drag every two or three years.Get pretty good yields that way on marginal ground.

That looks good . I like working on a contour pattern like that with a modern tractor it?s not hard to work the steering a little bit it?s not like you?re trying to work a team of oxen . We always drag the meadow ground in the ealy spring it helps level out the field a little and scatter any cow turds and it also wakes the grass up and it really greens up and grows

Is that a 2-88, 2-85, 2-110, or the elusive red stripe 2-105? I have a red stripe open staton 2-85 and I would love to find a true red stripe 105 with the dot 4.

pms we run an aireator over our ground. We do need rain. According to the forcast this am rain next ten days. Good looking tractor. RB
