Radio speakers don't turn back on after key is shut off a...

I bought and installed a new radio in a tractor and got everything hooked up and working. I shut the key off to do a few things and came back to try it out again. The radio powers on but the speakers won't come on unless I unhook both speaker wires and reconnect them. Any ideas would be great. Thanks!

Sounds like a bad radio.

If the troubleshooting section doesn't cover it, try customer service.

If they can't or won't help, I would take it back.

If it's a modern radio with digital tuning and memory, there's two "power wires", one that gets powered on and off with the ignition switch, and one that needs to be connected to "always live" battery power.

If you don't get that correct, they will not function properly.

Also, they have "amplifier protection" circuitry, if they sense a speaker with less than required impedance (defective/shorted), or a speaker wire that is common with ground they will go into "protection mode".

I'd suspect one of those issues before condemning the new radio,
